Bold Programmes. Real Solutions. Girl-Centred Change.
Programmes
At AKAYA, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all empowerment.
Each of our programmes is designed to meet girls where they are in school, in healing, in growth and walk with them as they rise. Whether we’re delivering menstrual products in rural Ghana or nurturing wellness in the UK, our mission is the same: to help young African women and girls thrive.

The Like Her Project
Delivering menstrual health education and sustainable sanitary products to girls in rural Ghana, the Like Her Project addresses period poverty, dismantles stigma, and equips girls with the confidence, knowledge, dignity, and the ability to stay in school.

Summer Internship Programme
This 3-month programme equips female university students in Ghana with mentorship, leadership coaching, and real-world experience. Interns contribute to AKAYA’s projects, engage in personal development sessions, and pitch their own community-focused ideas.

The Aya Initiative
A 7-month leadership and healing journey for girls who have faced significant life challenges. Aya provides therapy, mentorship, leadership training, and the opportunity to lead community projects that create lasting change.

The AKAYA Wellness Initiative
A UK-based initiative supporting young Black women aged 16-19 to prioritise the 8 dimensions of wellness. Through wellness webinars, interactive coaching, and a finale leadership summit, girls build resilience, confidence, and community.

Project Esi
An annual school development and renovation initiative focused on transforming under-resourced school environments in Ghana. From building and painting classrooms to stocking libraries and providing learning supplies, this project creates safe, inspiring spaces where students can flourish.

The AfriGirl Conference
A powerful gathering of girls from across Ghana designed to inspire, educate, and amplify their voices through keynotes, workshops, and real conversations on leadership, identity, and purpose. The conference creates a space where girls see what’s possible and feel empowered to go after it.
