A Recap of My Internship With Remoteli - Deborah-Esther Moses

Updated: Aug 26, 2025

From June 9 to July 19, I was given the opportunity to intern at Remoteli. As a current participant in the 2025 Aya Initiative, I had a wonderful experience during those 6 weeks. I could not have asked for a better introduction into the corporate space. The whole experience has pushed me into a new era of growth in my personal life as well. Come with me as I recap everything I did in those six weeks.

I learned something new every week during my time at Remoteli, and by the time my internship was over I had acquired new skills that not only make my life easier, but increase my appeal to future potential employers. Feedback was a normal thing throughout my stay; I gave feedback and was given feedback in return.

In my first week at Remoteli, I was put in the care of their very own People Team, and those five working days were spent making me feel welcome, and being oriented into the company. An orientation meeting was held, and I was given a brief rundown of what the company was about, their policies and the benefits I stood to gain as an intern.

Training began the very next week. I was put on a customer service team and given a buddy, who kept me busy and learning as much as she could. I was thrown into the world of customer service. My work involved answering calls from customers and attending to their issues. I handled most of the overflow work, and now I can confidently say I am well equipped to pull my own weight in any corporate space involving customer service. This training went on for at least two weeks, and I was rotated to another team.

Assigned to another buddy, I learned about the Google and Outlook calendars and how to use them. This part of my internship was very test based. I used the laptop provided by the company to organize events, set up meetings with teammates and customers, set tasks and reminders. This was supervised by my buddy, and at the end of the week I handled various digital calendar tasks with ease.

Bouncing back to my original team, I was now four weeks into my internship. I was given a course to complete by Remoteli, which could be likened to a sort of video game, because I could not move on to the next module unless I got all the questions on the current module right.  The course came with a certificate, and now I have a whole new certificate to add to my budding collection!

Week five involved a new buddy and learning to do research. I learnt how to look up suppliers for specific products, from the name of the company to where they were located, their policies and their phone numbers in various time zones.

Week six was my last week, and therefore feedback week. As a parting gift, my CV writing skills were polished. I filled out feedback forms and took assessments. On my last Friday, I said my goodbyes and my brief but life changing chapter with Remoteli under AKAYA was complete.

I would like to use my closing paragraph to say a bis big thank you to AKAYA and Remoteli. The lessons and memories I gained from this experience will not be forgotten anytime soon. My horizons were broadened, I learnt a lot about teamwork, and I even made a friend…or five!

To all the young people, (especially the girls) out there who stumble upon this, I want you to sign up for that thing. I’m only writing this today because I clicked on a link a friend of mine posted. Take life by the horns. Apply yourself and put in your best wherever you find yourself. Do good by those around you, and you will receive peace in return.

Moral of the story? Don’t shy away from good opportunities. Ever.

Yours,
