Program Details

The AKAYA Wellness Initiative is a 6-month programme designed to empower young Black women aged 16-19 to lead healthier, more confident lives. Through a series of 10 interactive webinars, participants will explore the 8 Dimensions of Wellness, including physical, emotional, financial, and social well-being. The programme also includes group projects using digital storytelling to create impactful community wellness campaigns and a grand finale event to celebrate achievements. Join us to gain practical skills, build meaningful connections, and thrive in a supportive, empowering environment.

Objectives
  • Holistic Wellness: Deliver a 10-webinar series on the eight dimensions of wellness, ensuring participants gain knowledge and apply skills in areas like physical health, emotional resilience, and financial literacy.

  • Personal Growth: Equip participants with leadership, goal-setting, and financial skills, encouraging them to create actionable personal or academic growth plans.

  • Community Building: Strengthen social bonds and mentorship through team projects and discussions, fostering a sense of connection and belonging.

  • Leadership through Action: Facilitate group projects addressing community challenges, showcasing participants’ leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving skills at the finale event.

  • Advocacy and Celebration: Host a finale event to celebrate achievements, promote wellness advocacy, and inspire participants to continue driving positive change in their communities.

Program Prerequisites

Eligibility Criteria
  • Female 

  • African and/or Caribbean Background 

  • Reside in the UK

  • Must show FULL commitment to the entire duration of the programme

  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in personal growth, leadership, and wellness.

  • Be willing to collaborate on group projects focused on creating impactful community wellness campaigns.

  • Have access to a device (e.g., smartphone, tablet, or computer) and a stable internet connection to join virtual sessions.

  • ​Show enthusiasm and commitment to engaging fully in the programme and contributing positively to group activities.
